Despite attempting to source locally grown hardwood logs for my Hase stove I repeatedly ran into issues about locating the size required ( max 200mm ) for my stove and having them kiln dried was another hurdle.
Eventually, after more than a decade of frustration and many , many days spent processing the logs I was able to procure into the dimensions necessary , I resolved to search further afield and eventually came across Logpile on the internet who offered the kiln dried hardwood logs to the sizes necessary for my small log burner. Initially, I was concerned about transport costs as I live in Perthshire but to my surprise this turned out to be included in their advertised rates. I ordered two large bags which couldn’t have been easier to do and they offered me everything including next day or specified day delivery if I wanted it. When the logs arrived a few days later they were delivered by APC right to my wood store, all well packaged on their own pallets. I set to the next day filling up my log bins and found all the logs ( Ash ) to be very well sized in length although slightly more variable in cross-section. I simply used those lighter pieces to split into kindling. In use the logs are great burners and last a good deal longer than the birch I have been previously used to. All in all , the whole experience has been a great one for me , which admittedly cost slightly more than my usual local suppliers but with a massive improvement in quality and huge savings in time and inconvenience. Would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone with a requirement for smaller length kiln dried logs regardless of where they live in the U.K.
